THE MUSEUM OF ILLUSIONS

 THE MUSEUM OF ILLUSIONS

Sometime last year Gopal was enjoying a drive around New Delhi on the weekend with his wife and young son. He drove to the heart of the city- Connaught Place. He parked his car in the parking lot and they decided to take a walk in the inner circle of Connaught Place. As they casually strolled by, his son happened to chance upon a museum bang in the middle of the inner circle. The signboard outside suggested that it was the Museum of Illusions.

Intrigued by it and his son's constant urging, they decided to explore it. Shelling out a neat amount: Rs 650 each for two adults and Rs 520 for his son under the age of 8, for the tickets, they entered the museum with a great deal of anticipation. Gopal was filled with a sense of amazement. Stories of wizardry and sleight of hand flashed through his mind. The scientific allure of the museum also intrigued him and he braced himself to be bombarded out of his senses.

Once inside the museum, they were greeted by things that defied rational explanations. Here were the 3D illusions created by holograms. The family marveled at the 3D images made by the holograms. Then they were greeted by a room that had magic mirrors. The magic mirrors distorted their images and threw back many funny images of the family. The family got a kick out of the distorted images. Then they got a thrill out of the rotating cylinders and reveled in it. After that to their astonishment was the room with no gravity. They were awe-struck by the mirage and the spectacle of this room. His son delighted in the enchanting magic playroom.  The captivating playroom had games, building blocks, puzzles, and many more things to amaze young minds. Gopal’s son spent some joyful time here. Then there was the strategically placed kaleidoscope. The family was flabbergasted by its panoramic and eye-opening views. Towards the exit of the museum was a smart shop selling magical souvenirs. Gopal got a magical pencil, some amazing key rings, and a mysterious clock from here. Throughout their trip inside his wife was busy clicking photos of the magical moments on her cell phone.

After that, they decided to stop for some appetizing snacks at the museum café which was belting out melodious music. Slowly they regained their senses at the café after two hours of breathtaking illusions and magic. Snacks and refreshments over, they headed out for their car with memories of an unforgettable afternoon spent at the Museum of Illusions.
