THE CANDY WORLD.

 THE CANDY WORLD

It's lunchtime on a fabulous, wintry day in New Delhi. Sean makes his way out for lunch at his school, Riverdale High. Suddenly, he is jolted by an extensive bus screeching to a halt outside the school gate. Sean couldn’t help but notice that the bus had no driver and was bright red.  It had the logo of a pack of candies painted in the centre. Sean watched, perplexed, as Archie, a student in his class, hopped onto the bus, and the bus drove off. Curious with excitement, Sean bumps into their teacher, Mrs Kamla, and tells her about this strange incident. But to his surprise, she mysteriously tells him, “Tell No One! “.

Sean had always been the curious one. He puts his detective hat on and decides to investigate. He flags down a rickshaw outside his school and asks the driver to go in the direction the bus had taken off. Luckily for him, after riding for a short distance, he finds the bright red bus refuelling at a gas station. Before he could get down, the bus revved its engine and again took off, but this time with Sean in hot pursuit. After travelling for around twenty minutes or so, the bus veered towards a tunnel on the side of the road and disappeared inside. Sean got out of his car, paid, and dismissed the driver. His heart was filled with growing anticipation and a mixture of fear and dread at the prospect of what he was about to discover.

Once inside the tunnel, he found the bus parked on one side. Flashing his mobile light on, he discovered the tunnel had an opening behind the bus. He saw Archie entering it. Sean, after hesitating for a while, also enters through the opening. Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw inside. The sight of a giant magical world blew him away. There were enormous candy crushes everywhere. Bars of chocolate, lollipops and chewing gums grew on trees. Everything was in the colour of a rainbow. Clouds were blue, and it rained chocolate syrup. Washbasins with taps poured out the chocolatey syrup. You could drink any amount of chocolate drink.

“Hey, I am Bonka. Welcome to Candy World,” said a strange man with a hat.

“Yes, thank you. But what is my friend Archie doing here? I followed him. “

“Well, your buddy Archie has won a special trip to Candy World.”

“Oh! I’m glad to hear it. I thought he was being kidnapped.”

“Since you are here, you might help yourself to a candy or two.”

“Thank you, Sir.”

Sean could see Archie filling his cup with chocolate candies out of the corner of his eye. He caught up with Archie.

“Oh Sean, you here too?”

“Yes, I heard about how you won a trip to this place.”

“But tell me, how do we get out of here?”

“Well, hop into that red bus, and it will take us out of here.”

So, thanking Bonka profusely, both friends bid him farewell and boarded the bus. After a while, the bus reached Riverdale High and blew the horn loudly three times at the school gate. Sean wakes up with a thud and finds he had dozed off at the school library. Amused, he finds Archie deeply engrossed in a book in the corner of the library.
