 THE VOODOO TRAP

 

A strong breeze scattered papers in the air in the crowded, dimly lit alleyways of Paharganj market. Among them was a yellowed parchment with strange symbols and incantations written on it.

 

His curiosity piqued, and Mark picked up the parchment. As his fingers brushed its surface, a tingling sensation coursed through his body. Unfolding it, he was met with a list of enigmatic spells, their untold powers shrouded in mystery.

 

His eyes popped out of their sockets as he read, “Vermilion, chicken head, lemon, chillies, voodoo dolls, feathers, among other items.” His eyes rolled when he read the word “Voodoo dolls”. This was not something to be trifled over. This was deadly dark magic; whoever had written this list was a practitioner.  Suddenly, Mark felt like some dark forces had controlled him. The darkness had infiltrated his mind, and his whole body was wrecked in pain as he felt as if pins had pricked him.

 

Undeterred by the pain and discomfort, Mark was resolute in his mission to uncover the truth and expose these malevolent forces. He embarked on a perilous journey of knowledge and research, seeking answers in ancient temples and churches and consulting with priests, sages, and other divine figures. Each step brought him closer to the heart of darkness.

 

United in their struggle against the dark forces, Mark and Maria stood as a beacon of hope. Having also fallen victim to these forces, Maria was determined to aid Mark. She recognized the voodoo dolls as a weapon being used against him and vowed to stand by his side, no matter the cost.

 

They visited libraries and consulted religious preachers and faith healers to expose the wrongdoers. Meanwhile, Mark uncovered the truth behind the spells and their dark origins. They originated from a dark, secluded forest in the city. Horrified by what he discovered, he decided it was high time to end the dark magic of the forests before it consumed everything in his path.

 

With Maria’s help, they joined forces to combat the dark forces threatening to take over their lives. Together, they faced many trials, dangers, and battles to fight off the dark evils.

 

Ultimately, their insurmountable courage, tenacity, and patience saved the city from the grip of darkness. Good God-fearing people joined them in their crusade. As the dark clouds receded, bright sunlight rose over the horizon. They finally ended the dark forces by cutting off their spells with prayer, faith, and God’s help.

 

Though the allure of the dark powers was enchanting, they were glad they could come out of it and gain freedom. The strength of the human spirit had triumphed once again. Mark and Maria stepped up to face whatever more challenges the future may hold together.

    MEMORIES OF MY DAYS AT ST. EDMUND’S SCHOOL   Nestled among the hills, ours was an Irish Christian Missionary School. It was founded by Edmund Ignatius Rice, a great missionary and educationist. The story goes that he belonged to a family of tenants who were into farming. When tragedy struck, and his wife died, he was left alone to care for his daughter with special needs. He sold his elegant house, moved into a stable, and opened his first school. Today, about 800 Christian Brothers in 28 countries run prestigious Edmund Rice educational institutions and follow in his footsteps.   St. Edmunds School had colossal buildings built by the Irish Brothers amidst picturesque settings. The school had three large play fields. It also had a very tranquil and very quaint chapel. Prayers were offered here in the serene atmosphere.
