BEING CHAMPAK

 BEING CHAMPAK

I want to tell you it’s me, Champak, the high priest of chaos! Every day, I get up with a burning desire to seek adventure and cause trouble. I can feel the adrenaline rush whenever I create chaos, disorder, and discomfort in others.

I can’t stop chattering and like to abuse the humans on whom I prey nonstop in my very own monkey language. It gives me a thrill to use profanities and swear words when I abuse them to no end. I have itchy fingers that can only be satisfied when I poke and prod at everything that catches my fancy. I particularly like to poke human heads and revel in their pain and discomfort. The birds, too, cannot hide from me. I want to test my limits and boundaries and see how far I can go without being stopped by the authorities.

Whenever I spy on humans engaged in a critical Zoom call or try to gain some knowledge by attending some online classes, I sneakily disrupt their internet connections. Sometimes, when I see them enjoying a game on TV or engrossed in a movie that I don’t like, I snap the cable connections. At other times, when I see them being comfortable in the cool confines of their homes, I cut their power connections and enjoy seeing them sweat in the sweltering summer heat. When I do all these, I am immensely pleased to see the humans curse and shout out in exasperation.

I want food all the time. I spy on the food the humans eat and feel their food quality is much better than mine. This angers me, and I go on a rampage, trying to teach the humans a lesson for depriving me of a tasty morsel. I outsmart the humans, and many times, I have snatched away some juicy fruits before the humans can lay eyes on them.

I thrive on attention and want to be the centre of everything humans do. In every scene, I want everyone to talk only about me and my family. I want my mischief to be legendary, my antics told by generations, and my name forever etched in the history books of chimps, apes, and even humans.

I am well known for my stubbornness. Many humans have tried to persuade, reason, talk some sense, and even scold and threaten me into mending my ways. But I always cock a snook at their efforts and do as I please. Like I told you, I’d like to continue on my path until I am put down by force or stopped permanently.

I like outwitting the humans and proving to the world how clever I am. After spying on the affairs of the humans, I suddenly and swiftly strike at appropriate places after reading about their situation. Sometimes I give them a splitting headache, or an aching arse, or a throbbing pain in the leg, or some tingling in their genitals. But sadly, my antics are not appreciated, and I fail to impress anyone.

I want to continue on my chosen path, never stopping and settling. Restlessness is in my genes, and my penchant for causing discomfort and trouble is the hallmark of my nature and character.

Being Champak means embracing the wild, living without limits and boundaries, and revelling in the chaos I create. I want the world to know that Champak is here, that I am doing great so far, that nobody can stop me, and that I am forever ready for whatever comes next. I am already a legend in the chimp world.
